French defense minister to offer Saudi Arabia Leclerc tanks

French Defense Minister Alain Richard will arrive on Sunday in Saudi Arabia for a one-day official visit, his second since assuming his current position.

Saudi sources told ArabicNews.com that Richard will meet with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, with whom he will discuss enhancing military cooperation between the two countries and discuss a potential Saudi purchase of 300 Leclerc tanks.

Saudi Arabia has been experimenting since 1995 with this tank, and demanded some adjustments to it and has not yet determined its official position.
