Mubarak: Israel is challenging America

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that the problems from which the Middle East suffers, among which is the current Israeli government's obstinacy, will not lead to prevailing calm in the area.

Mubarak said, "The area will not rest unless the Palestinians are given their rights, and without that the problems will continue God knows for how long."

He added that Israel is trying to frustrate the U.S. administration's endeavors to play an effective role in the peace process and challenges the U.S. administration in public.

Egyptian Minister of Information Safwat El-Sherif said that Mubarak confirmed the impossibility of new development in the Middle East unless peace and security prevail.
