Originally published

Saudi Arabia has reiterated the importance of continued pan-Arab efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity on the basis of commitment to the Arab League charter, signed Arab treaties and agreements for the service of Arab interests and backing efforts exerted to restore the usurped Arab rights in Palestine, the Golan and south Lebanon.

During the weekly Cabinet meeting today at al-Salam palace in Jeddah, King Fahd added that the might of the Arab nation and its ability to maintain its sublime values are connected to the unity of Arab stances and adherence to Arab summit resolutions. The Saudi king asserted the need to intensify Arab efforts to restore the occupied Arab territories in Palestine, the Golan and south Lebanon and to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their own independent state on their native soil of Palestine with Jerusalem as a capital.

He recalled, in this respect, the continuous Israeli aggressions against Palestinian citizens and the refusal of the Israeli government to abide by efforts exerted to salvage the Middle East peace process.

In a statement following the meeting of the Saudi Cabinet today, Saudi Information Minister Fuad al-Farisi said that King Fahd has reiterated what was said in the statement of the Royal court on the latest Saudi moves, which are not limited to convening the summit. He added that Saudi Arabia stresses the need for prior coordination before convening such an Arab summit.

King Fahd also briefed the Saudi Cabinet on the results of his recent talks with Bosnia Vice- President and highlighted Saudi Arabia stand in support of the people of Bosnia.
