PUK: What has been done is better than fighting
Peace delegations from both the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan met for the 14th time in Koya city, 50 KM east of Arbil, the regional Kurdish capital.
"We discussed the issues of detainees, judiciary committee and a committee to supervise registering students at universities in the region, " Aref Taifoor of the KDP told the reporters, "The committee has made good progress. The other committees continued to meet to carry out their previous decisions," He stated.
"We are not satisfied with the progress the peace process has made, but to continue the meetings is positive," Kamal Fuad of the PUK said, "I mean it was supposed that 14 meetings and four months of concentrated work should have made more progress. Despite that what have been done is better than fighting."
"Our opinion regarding the issues we discussed are similar, "Fuad said, "We discussed a method of forming a temporary coalition government as soon as possible to make a new general election whose consequences are to be obligatory and will be reflected in Parliament; that is whatever the results of the elections might be, no party will seize power for itself alone. It is important for small parties to participate in ruling the country. We are intent on continuing our meetings until we reach conclusions that will be accepted by all parties and the people of Kurdistan," Fuad stated.
