Cultural program between Jordan and Sudan
Jordan and Sudan have signed an executive program for culture and scientific cooperation for the years 1998,1999, and 2000. Implementation of a cultural agreement signed last year was also reviewed.
The agreement was signed by Jordan's Minister of Education and higher Education Mohammed Hamdi and his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ahmed Omar.
Under the agreement Sudanese universities will allocate 10 scholarships annually for Jordanian students, while Jordan will allocate 10 scholarships for Sudanese students' higher education at Jordanian universities.
Jordan is also allocating for the Sudanese side five seats for higher education at Jordanian universities.
In the field of youth and sports the agreement calls for the exchange of youth and sports delegates. It also calls for coordination and cooperation and exchange of studies, programs, data and expertise in the fields of social development, health, tourism and media.
Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Abdul-Salam al-Majali also met with Omar. The meeting focused on promoting relations between Jordan and Sudan in fields of education and scientific research.
