Indian, Pakistani War of words about Israel and the Arab states

Originally published

A war of words broke out yesterday between the embassies of India and Pakistan in Cairo.

Taib Sadiki, the Pakistani ambassador in Egypt, stated that the Indian nuclear experiments disclosed many surprises in the Middle East region. He said that one of the dangers resulting from the Indian experiments is its encouragement to Israel to officially announce its nuclear program. He also denied that Pakistan has leveled accusations at India haphazardly concerning its military cooperation with Israel.

Then the embassy of India, in a contrary statement, denied Israeli participation in the Indian nuclear experiments and described reports of this as aiming to cause friction between India and its Arab neighbors.

The statement said that India doesn't need any experience or external technical aid to implement its nuclear program, and it referred to its relations with the Arab states as historical, adding that India supported Palestine as an independent entirety in the 1970s before the Arab and Islamic countries did.
