Peru, PLO elevate diplomatic representation

Peru and the PLO on Monday signed an accord in Lima providing for elevating the level of the PLO diplomatic mission to Peru into "special delegation" position.

Chairman of the PLO team Walid Ibrahim said that raising the level of the PLO mission is but new evidence of Peru's recognition of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. Peru recognized the PLO during the 1970s as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and permitted the opening of its office in Lima.
