U.A.E. for pressure on Israel to withdraw from Arab lands
The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday called upon the international community to pressure Israel to abide by U.N. resolutions providing for its withdrawal from all Arab territories occupied since 1967.
The Gulf News Agency said that the U.A.E.'s representative at the U.N., Muhammad Jasem Samhan, called in a speech he delivered before the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Cartagena, Colombia on the U.N. and the U.S. being the Middle East peace process cosponsors to take political and economic measures against Israel to this end.
Samhan added that the Middle East peace process is currently stalemated on all its various tracks, as a result of the policy of expansion and settlement pursued by the Israeli government. On behalf of its representative to the conference, the U.A.E. condemned the crimes recently committed by the Israeli occupation forces during the huge Palestinian demonstrations which marked the 50th anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe) of Palestine. It reiterated support for the ambitions of the Palestinian people in their struggle to liberate their occupied lands and establish their own independent state on their native soil of Palestine.
