Bahrain official supports peaceful settlement to U.A.E. - Iran island issue
Bahrain's minister of information, Mohammed Ibrahim al-Metawae, confirmed his country's support to the United Arab Emirates concerning Iran's occupation of three United Arab Emirates Islands, Greater Tanb, Lesser Tanb and Abu Mousa.
In press declarations today, El-Metawae said that Bahrain seeks normal and developed relations with its Moslem neighbor, Iran, and at the same time Bahrain stands with the U.A.E. concerning this matter and other matters.
He emphasized the importance of reaching a peaceful settlement to this important issue and that it must be either settled through a bilateral understanding or by resorting to the International Court of Justice.
Metawae said the Gulf Cooperation Council is here to stay and there is no other alternative to it as an institution.
