Turkey to keep open dialogue door with Syria

Originally published

The Turkish television news network, NTF, said Ankara is determined to keep the door open for dialogue with Damascus despite the continued reactions to statements made by the Syrian ambassador in Washington concerning Alexandretta Province, ceded by Turkey from Syria.

The NTF added that the Turkish Foreign Ministry expects the arrival of a Syrian delegation to Ankara after the visit of the director of the Middle East department at the Turkish Foreign Ministry to Damascus and the meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Ismael Cim and his Syrian counterpart Farouk al-Sharaa in Qatar.

An unidentified official at the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that no time has yet been fixed by the Syrian delegation from Damascus. He expressed confidence that unresolved problems between the two countries can be settled through exchanged dialogue.
