Qatar studies providing Lebanon with natural gas through French company
Qatari diplomatic sources confirmed today that the Qatari Minister of Petroleum Abdullah Hamad al-Attiyah, will fly on Wednesday from Damascus to Beirut to hold meetings on Thursday with officials from the French Elf-Aquitaine company and with the Lebanese minister of the electric energy; Ilyas Hubayqah to discuss providing Lebanon with Qatari natural gas through Elf-Aquitaine.
The sources said these talks are still in the preliminary phase, especially because the project's costs are very high and Egyptian natural gas will be a competitor for this project at a low cost.
