A.L. expresses worries on peace talks

Originally published

The Arab League on Monday informed Russia, as one of the peace process cosponsors, that the Arab states are worried about the current grave situation of the peace process.

This was expressed in a reply sent by A.L. Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid to Russia's Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov, conveyed by Russia's ambassador in Egypt after talks with Abdul Meguid.

In a statement following the meeting, the Russian ambassador expressed his country's dissatisfaction over U.S. backtracking on holding Washington's meeting on Monday because of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's intransigence, noting that exerting more effort by the international parties including the U.S. and Russia, is necessary to give the peace process a push forward.
