Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexander Kozomok accompanied by high-ranking officers arrived in Amman of Jordan yesterday for a several day official visit.

He was received by acting Premier and Minister of Defense Abdullah Nusour, head of the joint chiefs of staff, Lieutenant General Abdul-Hafez Ka'abna and the Ukrainian ambassador to Jordan.

"Jordan tries hard to promote its relations with Ukraine and in various aspects," Nusour told the reporters. There have been joint interests between the two countries, he added. Nusour pointed out that there are more than 4,000 Jordanian students studying at different Ukrainian universities.

Nusour confirmed the importance of promoting bilateral relations between the two states particularly in political and economic areas. The Ukrainian minister praised Jordan's role in preserving peace in the region and all over the world.

"I visit Jordan to support bilateral relations between our countries and to develop the signed agreements to include various areas of joint interest," Kozomok said.

He reaffirmed his country's support for Jordan in various aspects particularly in the military field.
