Fierce fighting between Algerian forces, armed groups

Algerian daily al-Khabar today said Algerian security forces on Sunday defused a bomb in Sidi al-Bishri suburb in downtown Wahran city, planted in a handbag in a building's entrance.

Algerian dailies Liberte and al-Watan said that security forces on Sunday killed three men from the armed groups in al-Awaneh district of the besieged province of Jejil.

The dailies added that another eight armed men were killed in al-Bweirah province during mopping-up operations, adding that another four elements of the armed groups were killed by municipal guard units.
