Arab League secretary receives families of Lockerbie's victims
Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid today received representatives of victims of the 1988 US Pan Am flight which blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland and a lawyer representing them.
Arab League spokesman Talaat Hamid said Abdul Meguid will listen to the views of the victims' families, who do not oppose trying the two Libyans suspected in the explosion before a Scottish judicial commission in a neutral country, a matter which constitutes the basis of the Libyan proposal adopted by the AL.
Libya refuses to deliver its two citizens to the US and Britain for trial, and this position led to the imposition of air and military sanctions against Libya in 1992, al-Nahar reported.
