European Parliament member in Jordan

A member of the European Parliament currently visiting Jordan to highlight the importance of cooperation and understanding between the EU and countries in the Middle East.

European Parliamentarian Friedrich Wolf's visit is part of a program of cooperation measures which include lectures as well as meetings with representatives of both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

He addressed a joint news conference with the vice-president of the Institute of Diplomacy on the Jordanian-European dialogue program. Professor Wolf and Princess Wijdan told reporters that the dialogue is the basis for understanding.

"The program takes us to Europe and brings Europe to us and we hope in this way we can have a better understanding of each other and build better bridges between the European community members and Jordan and towards a better understanding of our problems and of our issues that we both try to tackle," Princess Wijdan said to the reporters.

"This is the first step in Jordanian-European dialogue which has been organized by the Institute of Diplomacy of Jordan and Berlin-based NGO Eurocom in order to advance mutual understanding between European and Jordanian intellectuals, politicians and personalities," Wolf told the press conference.
