Originally published

The spokesman of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, called for forming a neutral committee to investigate the death of Hamas leader Mohyiddin Sharif's death separate from the investigations made by the Palestinian government.

In a statement to the Egyptian al-Ahram, Abd al-Aziz al-Rantisy said that Hamas is certain that Israel was behind the assassination of Sharif pointing out that prior investigations made by the military wing of Hamas showed Israeli involvement in the accident.

The spokesman stated that he has been informed about the results of the Palestinian government's investigation during his meeting yesterday with El-Taib Abd al-Rahim, the secretary general of the authority who is responsible of the investigation, and he described the results as unconvincing, and unacceptable by Hamas.

He rejected statements about confession by one of the arrested Hamas members who claimed that Hamas was behind the accident and demanded that those arrested by the Palestinian government be released.
