Regarding the latest crisis between the Iraqi government and the UN, Jordan's King Hussein told reporters, "Dialogue between Baghdad and Washington is required at this stage to end the crisis."

The king said, "It is not strange for the addressees to meet." He also said that commitments made directly between the two sides are much more meaningful.

However, the king stressed the importance of strict adherence to what has been agreed upon between Iraq and UN.

"I believe that there is certainly requirement for direct contact," he reiterated, "It is not strange even for adversaries to meet."

The king said that the sufferings of the Iraqi people should be ended, "Where do we go? We have to move forward to deal with the question of sanctions."
