Pan-Islamic agreement against terrorism
Experts from 24 OIC member countries have drawn up a draft bill for an Islamic agreement to fight terrorism, to be submitted to the OIC foreign ministers during their meeting in Doha in mid-March.
Egypt's deputy Foreign Minister Sayed Qasem al-Masri said the draft bill, drawn during a meeting in Cairo last Sunday, deplored terrorism, and violence and legitimizes people's right to struggle against occupation by all means, including armed struggle.
Al-Masri said the draft bill, adopted according to a paper proposed by Egypt, is based on the agreement prepared by the Arab League on fighting terrorism, the OIC charter, international norms and the UN charter. He said the draft bill will be submitted to the meeting of OIC foreign ministers in Doha when the OIC general-secretariat will be also assigned to prepare a draft agreement to be submitted for approval for the forthcoming OIC Summit in November 1998.
