Manama hosts Arab-European media conference
In a speech made on behalf of the Arab League's secretary-general, AL Assistant SG Ahmad Bin Hali told the European-Arab information conference held in Manama on Monday that peace in the Middle East is a pressing need.
He warned against arbitrary practices being carried out by Israel to avoid implementing previously agreed-upon peace principles as termed in the Madrid "land for peace" initiative and delaying the entire peace process.
He noted the sincere efforts exerted by Arab leaders and international parties to settle Iraq's crisis with the UN by peaceful means. He went on to say that European and Arab groups are looking forward to establishing a common media project and a multi-faceted partnership based on maintaining peace and development.
