Israel to have unilateral withdrawal from South Lebanon

Originally published

The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah on Tuesday quoted Israeli sources close to the Israeli Defense Ministry as saying that a decision was taken on a high-ranking political-military level to have a unilateral withdrawal from south Lebanon if Prime Minister Netanyahu could have full support from US President Bill Clinton.

In its issue Tuesday, the paper said that, according to sources, coordination between Washington and Tel Aviv concerning a secret and surprise withdrawal from south Lebanon had reached its final stages on the day Israeli Defense Minister Mordechai launched his proposal providing for implementing UN resolution 425.
