Syrian agricultural yields boom

Syria's production of greenhouse vegetables was estimated at 740,000 tons produced in 48,863 greenhouses in 1996, compared to some 5,177 greenhouses a decade before in 1986, representing an increase of 43,686. The increase has helped the country meet local markets' vegetable requirements.
