Iranian President receives Iraqi Foreign Minister

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami today received Iraqi Foreign Minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf currently visiting Tehran. During the meeting the two sides discussed consequences of the Iraqi-Iranian war.

In this respect, the Iranian President expressed hope the states would solve suspended problems as a result of their good intentions in this respect, IRNA reported.

The Iraqi foreign minister explained current conditions in his country and briefed the Iranian President on the process of negotiations between the UN and Iraq. Sahaf arrived Tehran on Saturday and held a round of talks with his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi, aimed at solving issues suspended by the two countries.
