Lebanon to host international energy conference
Lebanon will host an international conference next month to explore fresh energy resources in the Middle East, electricity and hydraulics minister Elias Hobeika has said.
The pan-Mediterranean conference, to be held February 12-14, is meant to provide a forum for countries to exchange information and technical expertise in the field of power generation, Hobeika said.
Some 24 government-owned and privately owned energy and gas firms across the Mediterranean basin have pledged to send some 200 specialized delegates to the conference, which will be co-sponsored by the European Commission and the ministry.
Arab and European countries, including those that have energy-producing factories, those enjoying natural resources and others suffering from problems such as pollution, will take part in the conference, Hobeika added.
