In accordance with oil-for-food program agreed upon by the UN Security Council and Iraq, the Sanctions Committee agreed to 11 Jordanian contracts to export humaniterian medicine, medical equipment and water pumps to Iraq, the Jordanian minister of industry and trade told Jordan's Petra News Agency.

"A total of 60 contracts belonging to Jordanian companies have been ratified by the UN SC Sanctions Committee," Hadi al-Mulki said.

"There are 49 contracts remaining; they have been suspended for several reasons," he stated. Al-Mulki said he plans to follow-up on those contracts via the Jordanian envoy to the UN so that approval can be secured.

He said, "The total amount of the contracts ratified in the first two phases of the oil-for-food deal has reached $188,558,800."
