Qadaffi call the UN in its current structure a farce
In a message to world leaders, Libyan leader Moammer Qadaffi called for reforming the United Nations so that all its resolutions should pass through its General Assembly, and the Security Council's role should be only to implement those resolutions.
The Libyan News Agency published the text of the message in which Qadaffi called for reconsidering the role of the UN after it has become one of the most striking farces in history and the most dangerous organization to the peace, security and freedom of the peoples of the world, the release said.
Qadaffi called on the leaders of the world to work on modifying the UN Charter and to give the General Assembly the Security Council's authority to issue resolutions, as the Security Council should be a tool to implement those resolutions.
He also criticized the current distribution of the permanent seats of the Security Council as Europe has two seats and Asia has one seat, while South America and Africa are not represented at all.
There is great criticism from the Arab states for the role the UN has played in strongly enforcing resolutions that are directed against Arab states, while giving lip service to resolutions against Israel.
