Medicine arrives in Iraq
A ship loaded with medical supplies donated by the United Arab Emirates to sanctions-hit Iraqis has arrived in Basra in southern Iraq, Al-Ahram daily said yesterday.
"A Cypriot ship laden with medicine donated by the United Arab Emirates to the Iraqi people has anchored in Ummqasr port Basra," Al-Iraq newspaper said. It said the shipment was a "gift" from defense minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum to the people and children of Iraq.
The paper said this was the second medical shipment to arrive from the UAE, the first having arrived on December 6,1997, it said.
