Message from Qatari prince to Yemeni president

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has received a message from the Qatari Prince Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani, in reply to a message conveyed earlier by Iranian Foreign Minister Abdul Karim al-Iryani.

Upon arriving home from Doha al-Iryani said the message addresses "bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of mutual concern," adding that he discussed with his Qatari counterpart "regional and international developments, bilateral relations, multifaceted cooperation fields and means of promoting them for bilateral interests," the Lebanese daily Assafir said.

The daily said that local observers in the two countries said the message dealt with Sanaa's desire to join the Gulf Cooperation Council.
