Qatar's Emir pardons prisoners

The Qatari News Agency said the ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani, on Tuesday pardoned 79 prisoners on the occasion of the fasting month of Ramadan. It has become a tradition in the Gulf states to pardon prisoners and suspend prison sentences to mark religious and national festivities.
