Tagamoua Party partners accuse it of violating the coalition agreement

Originally published

The National Liberation Front and the Peaceful Society Movement parties accused Al Tagamoua Party, their partner in the ruling Algerian National Democratic Gathering coalition, of abrogating the agreement reached by the leadership of the three parties and held it responsible for their weak performance in the parliamentary election.

Al Tagamoua scored a massive victory in the election as it won 80 of 96 total seats, for which 14 parties and 21 independent nominees had competed. The remaining 16 seats were split between three parties: the Liberation Front (10 seats), the Socialist Powers Front (4 seats), and the Peaceful Society Movement (2 seats).

An official in the Liberation Front said that the limited numbers of votes that the party received was due to the lack of organization among the party's supporters and the violations committed by the supporters of the National Democratic Gathering.

A source in the Peaceful Society Movement expressed his anger over what he called the renegade acts committed by the presidential party, while a source in the Socialist Powers Front believed that the results achieved by his party are normal and expressed his feelings of relief for the failure of the Gathering for Democracy and Culture, which is led by Said Saadi in the Al Kabael area.
