Mohamed Shoeih: the Security Situation is not A Substantial Problem

Originally published

Algerian director Mohamed Shoeih the director of the Algerian cinematic masterpiece "Al Qala'a" ("The Citadel") said that the security situation is not a substantial problem for Algerians working the cinema industry compared to the financial and structural chaos prevailing in their artistic life. He added, "The Algerian cinema industry has lost its simplest rules and traditions."

According to Shoeih, this is a shock to the Algerian cinema workers as it is difficult to work amid such difficult general atmosphere, which does not encourage them to produce good works. They cannot work amid the psychological, financial, cultural atmosphere which deals with the cinema industry like the other economic enterprises within the new Algerian liberal method.

Shoeih is one of the Algerian cinema directors who excelled during the past years. "Al Qala'a" earned him much acclaim on the Arab and international levels. He directed plays as well for years, and he is one of the most famous stage directors in the Algerian city of Mostaganem west of Algeria.

His new film "Kous Al Sahara' ("The Desert Bow") will be presented at the end of the month in the Paris cinemas.
