Iraq offered new reduced oil prices, Jordanian Energy Minister said
Jordanian Minister of Energy Mohammed al-Hourani denied that Jordan was looking for sources of oil other than Iraq. Following his negotiations with Iraqi officials al-Hourani stated that his talks resulted in the renewing of an oil protocol between the two countries.
The discussion included increasing Jordanian imports of Iraqi oil by 7%, constructing an oil refinery in al-Aqaba, the only Jordanian port, inaugurating a pipeline to transfer oil from Iraq to Jordan, establishing a joint petrol company and making use of Iraqi experience to extend al-Risha gas field in Jordan, the minister added.
New prices for oil have been reached, he said but he did not announce those prices.
Pointing to the Jordanian delegation visiting Baghdad, Iraq's oil minister noted his country's firm stand concerning providing Jordan with all its needs of oil.
