Northern Iraq, PUK accuse Turkish warplanes

Voice of Kurdistan People radio, run by Jalal Talbani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in northern Iraq, reported Sunday that four Turkish war planes flew over the PUK fighters positions.

The report affirmed that the recent violations of the skies in PUK-controlled areas would have serious consequences and affect stability in the Middle East.

"These aggravations by the Turkish warplanes will result in another round of fighting and instability in this region," the radio report said.

The international community and Arab countries should step forward to put pressure on Turkey to stop violating Iraqi airspace, the report added.
