Moroccan socialist union will participate in government
Days before the opening of the first session of the Moroccan Parliament next Friday, the opposition Socialist Union Party (SUP) declared through one of its leading members that all the parties should benefit from the constitutional and economic reforms in Morocco.
Answering the statements of the Independence Party calling for holding a new election, a member of the political executive office of the SUP questioned how it could be ensured that the new election would not be worse. He also stated that the request to disband the parliament can only be described as illogical.
He added that the parliament cannot be disbanded unless the Moroccan Monarch issues a decree in that concern or through the agreement of two thirds of parliament members, a rate which could not be achieved by the opposition now.
Regarding the emergency conference of the Independence Party, he stated that those requests are not serious. During an emergency conference, the Independence Party which is an ally of the SUP called for disbanding parliament and asked the opposition parties not to participate in forming the government.
