France supports US - Middle East peace initiatives

In a statement released on Wednesday, the assistant for the French Foreign Ministry's spokesman said that his country supports the US initiatives to revive the peace process and noted the integration between the US and European efforts in this respect.

He noted what was stated about the Middle East peace process in the declaration of the recently held European Union Summit in Luxembourg which explained the European stand toward the peace process on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks within the land for peace principle and according to UN resolutions 242, 338, and 425.

The French official pointed out that US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today in Paris, but neither will meet with French officials.
