Arab Knesset member to visit Damascus soon

Originally published

An Arab member of the Israeli Knesset, Azmy Beshara, will arrive in Damascus soon.

Syrian sources stated that Beshara will meet with the Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khadam and Foreign Minister Farouk Al Sharaa. He is also expected to meet with the leader of the Palestinian Salvation Front, Khaled Al Falhoum, the secretary general of the Popular Front, George Habashy, and the Democratic Front, Naif Hawatma.

This visit is the third to be paid by an Arab Knesset member to the Syrian Parliament. The sources added that Beshara's visit to Syria comes within Syria's moves to strengthen its relations with the Palestinian areas which had been occupied since 1948 and the pro-peace movements in Israel.

Beshara will also visit Beirut to participate in a seminar organized by the Arab Union Studies Center on December 18.
