Economic experts call for setting up a north African market
Arab economic experts and officials called for setting up a joint north African market that would comprise Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Mauritania instead of competition between those countries.
The officials stressed the importance of exchanging information and expertise between economic establishments in the North African region as a step toward the regional integration of those countries.
Tunisian Premier Dr. Hamed Al Karawy stated that results are still below the expectations of the north African peoples. Those results do not cope with the challenges faced by this region, despite the announcement of the Free Trade Exchange project among the north African countries in 1994 and despite forming the task force to prepare the documents needed to establish this free trade zone region.
Tunisian Minister of External Investments Mohamed Al Ganoush said that 34 agreements of regional integration had been signed during the past decade. He expected the agreement between the North African counties and the European Union would increase the homogeneity of legislation in the North African region.
