Originally published

Rival Somali faction leaders met in Cairo yesterday for talks aimed at putting an end to more than six years of clan warfare which has wracked the African nation.

Somali sources said the talks, which began at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday evening, were meant to pave the way for a peace charter to be signed in December at the Somali town of Bossasso, Al Wafd daily said today.
