Assad anniversary celebrated in Beirut

A ceremony marking the 27th anniversary of Syria's correctional movement which brought president Hafez Assad to power and reformed the Baath party was held yesterday at the Beaurivage hotel in Jnah.

Prominent officials, politicians and party leaders hailed the Syrian president's achievements and highlighted the movement's effect on the Arab world. Speaker Nabih Berri reaffirmed during the ceremony that, "The Lebanese and Syrian tracks of the Middle East peace talks should run simultaneously."
