Israel informs Jordan of ideas to reach final settlement with Palestinians
Jordanian sources declined to deny or confirm the news that the Israeli Infrastructure Minister Ariel Sharon offered new ideas regarding the final settlement with the Palestinians. The sources said that the Israeli Minister's visit to Jordan is very important, especially his meeting with the heir of the Jordanian king, Prince Hassan.
Jordanian sources had stated before that Sharon had informed Jordan of new ideas for reaching a final settlement with the Palestinians and that he was carrying a map which he used in explaining his ideas. The sources had said that Sharon stressed the idea of keeping some Jordanian areas in Gour Al Ordon under Israeli control.
The Jordanian sources confirmed that Prince Hassan informed Sharon that there are existing agreements between Israel and the Palestinians and that Israel should be committed to fulfilling these agreements first. Sharon was reported to have renewed Israeli regrets regarding the failed operation against the head of the political office of Hamas in Jordan, Khaled Mishal. Sharon mentioned that the assassination attempt did not aim to harm the Jordanian regime by any means.
