Cleansing campaign
Giza's government has adopted a new plan to clean up the main historical sites and monuments in the area.
The plan is part of a comprehensive project launched by the cultural ministry through its supreme council for antiquities (SCA) to development the Giza pyramids plateau.
Giza's governor, Maher El Guins, said that the plan included a ban on camels and horses from entering the plateau, which is designated as a world heritage area protected by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), Al Ahrar daily said today.
"There will be constant clean-up campaigns in the governorate's posh and poor districts alike," Guindi said.
