Commander of US central command: Bright Star training is great

Originally published

The Commander of the US Central Command, Lieutenant General Anthony Zeny, described the Bright Star Military Training which is held in Egypt with the participation of 6 Arab and foreign countries as "great."

He said that the assistance offered by Egypt is the main reason for the success of this training, as Egypt is the only country in the Middle East that can host such training. Zeny confirmed that one of the most important aims of this training is achieving the coordination among the joint forces, adding that the experience gained in such training is immeasurable.

Zeny stated that it is not true that the USA participates in this training to teach other countries. On the contrary, the US forces benefit from the experience of the other countries. He clarified that one of the participating US marines told him that they learned from the Egyptian forces how to fight better in the desert, as the US forces are not used to desert combat.

US forces have participated with Egyptian forces in the multinational peacekeeping forces in Bosnia, Somalia, and in the Gulf War.
