Plans to establish a regional training center for advertising are progressing well, it was announced by Mohamed al Amin Fal, the chairman of GCC advertising association.

The center, to be based in Bahrain, was conceived by the association's board of directors two years ago.

During the preliminary planning stages, the project has won support from advertisers and industry specialists throughout the region, and is being fully endorsed by the Bahrain ministers of cabinet affairs, information, and labor and social affairs.

Under the plans, the center would provide a foundation training course for new entrants to the industry, mainly school leavens, and will also offer career development courses for those already working in advertising and related disciplines.

The physical center, to be located in central Manama, will include training rooms, a lecture theater, an industry resource center and library, as well as interactive computer learning facilities, and is planning to open early in 1998 following the holy month of Ramadan.
