Mahdi commends relation with Egypt

Originally published

Al-Sadiq El Mahdi, the elected prime minister and leader of the Ummah party, commended the good relations between Egypt and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He said that Egypt shelters a large number of Sudanese who are well treated.

El Mahdi said that the Sudanese regime has no right to argue about foreign intervention in the Sudan because it opened the door for foreign intervention to forward its interests and relied on subsidies from Iran, Iraq and Afghan Arabs. When Al Bashir speaks about military deployments on the borders, he is actually justifying his inability to defend Sudan, Mahdi said. For the last six months he could not attack the military checkpoints liberated by the NDA troops.

Al-Mahdi said he expects the IGAD meeting scheduled for October 28 to fail, Al Khartoum daily said today October 27.
