Minister opens medical conference

Syrian Health Minister Mohammed Iyad Al Shati opened on October 26 both the 7th conference of the Syrian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the 2nd conference of the Arab Association of the Societies of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

The conferences are held by the Health Ministry in cooperation with the Physicians Union and Military Medical services.

Concerning the drug industry in Syria, Dr. Al Shati spoke about its development in cooperation with the World Health Organization, noting that the number of medicines manufactured in Syria has increased from 100 in 1993 to 2,249 in 1997.
