Algeria after the victory of the middle powers
After the Democratic National Rally, headed by Algerian President Liamine Zeroual, won the provincial and people's election in Algeria, everyone in Algeria is asking whether the ruling party will be able to apply its election programs amidst the deteriorated security situation.
The ruling party holds most of the seats and enjoys the support of the Algerian people, but still everybody is waiting to see whether it will be able to deal with Algerian problems like terrorism, restoring the democratic march and completing the economic reform program..
Answering these questions is not easy, especially as the situation in Algeria is shrouded with mystery amidst the different theories of dealing with the Algerian crisis. However there are some indications that show that those theories could meet in one common area to solve all the problems as the recent election was a chance to restore stability in the Algerian political arena and to resolve the security issue.
Most if not all political commentaries confirm that the Democratic National Rally is the most able party to get Algeria out of its crisis as it is supported and accepted by most Algerians and the army. By establishing this party Zeroual appealed to all strata of Algerian people, which gave him a great basis on which he can depend. Thus the possibility of cooperation between the government and the people in the future is strong which could solve the security crisis.
In spite of the great hopes after the recent election, the sword is still on the necks of the terrorist groups, the government and the people as this situation will not be over unless either the armed groups or the government is slain. But the people's, by accepting and supporting the rule of Zeroual, hope to solve the crisis and get stronger. The final solution will naturally lead to more victims. Violence must be handled with much care in order to avoid escalation which might lead the ruling party to lose some of its supporters who are the primary help to the government.
