Akkar MP attacks the Troika system

Akkar MP Issam Fares on October 21 launched a scathing attack on the troika system of government, calling it a clear breach of political democracy and the traditional role of the parliament and the council of ministers .

In a statement following talks with Greek Orthodox patriarch Ignatius Hakim, Fares said that " the troika system of government undermines the free system of government and inevitably leads to a national deficit, waste of resources, general chaos and lack of credibility and trust in government institutions ". Fares called for a clear cut taxation system based on " ability to collect them ".

The MP said that recent meetings between members of the troika had "failed to live up to most people's expectations ". He said that "the Lebanese want to know, above all, who is responsible for their economic setbacks and who brought the country to this deplorable crisis "
