Attack against house of Jordanian diplomats in Ramat Gan
Jordanian newspapers widely reported the case of an attack against the house of a Jordanian diplomat in Israel who was kept under siege for five hours without any interference from Israeli police last Sunday.
Unidentified assailants had assaulted the house where two Jordanian diplomats live in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv. The attackers threw rocks at the house and then tried to break into the house. A Jordanian official confirmed the attack but gave no comments. An official source at the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv said the Ambassador, who was informed about the attack, sent an official protest to the Israeli Foreign Ministry and informed the Jordanian Foreign Ministry in Amman about the details of the attack.
Jordanian press reports talked lately about threats received at the Embassy in Israel of possible attacks against Jordanian Embassy employees. Ahmad Mahmoud Rahmon Rsheidat, a Jordanian employee working at the Jordanian Embassy in Israel, was found dead near the Tel Aviv seashore on September 20, 1997.
