Iraq exports oil to Morocco

Originally published

Iraqi diplomatic sources stated that Iraq will export about 135 thousand barrels of crude oil to the Moroccan Samir Oil Company at the end of this month. This is the second shipment of its kind since last September.

The Iraqi oil was exported at the same price as the Mixture of Brent in the international market. Sources in the Samir company, in which Saudi investors own the majority of shares, said that it reached a deal with the Iraqi oil authorities through which it will be able to buy about 600 thousand barrels of crude oil exported on a number of shipments to the Port of Al Mohamadia near Casablanca till the end of December.

Sources in the Samir company said that it received 120 thousand barrels of Iraqi crude oil last month.

The Moroccan-Iraqi deal was reached within the international resolution to lift the sanctions imposed on the Iraqi oil exports worth $2 billion as part of the oil-for-food agreement which was accepted by Baghdad.
