Third Baabda meeting adjourns without apparent progress
President Elias Hrawi, Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Rafik Hariri held their third meeting in Baabda, yesterday, without disclosing any of the results achieved. The prime minister left the meeting, which started at 12 p.m. and lasted for two hours, without any comment. Speaker Berri, on the other hand, only said that the discussions will continue. However, no other meeting was scheduled.
The minister of the interior Michel Murr had predicted, in the previous morning to the session, that if the leaders didn't have any comments, that it would mean the conflict isn't settled. Hariri's and Berri's sources stated, though, that the atmosphere isn't pessimistic but doesn't allow for a lot of optimism. Some points, it was said, needed further discussions. The sources also put aside the possibility of a Lebanese-Syrian meeting in the near future, declaring that there was no need for it now.
